Claudio Jacomucci is an eclectic musician with a strong interest in contemporary music forms.
His compositions are originated from an intimate knowledge of the accordion and characterised by a highly sophisticated feeling for its sound and expressive potential, exploring its most extreme sounds, its extended possibilities to be re-shaped and re-invented. He plays both classical accordion and a prototype of microtonal and prepared accordion that he has designed and realised.
Accordionist, composer, pedagogue, Alexander Technique teacher, Claudio has a long experience in performing new music between experimentation, composition, improvisation and teaching. He has cooperated with Luciano Berio, György Kurtág, Salvatore Sciarrino, Terry Riley, Louis Andriessen Franco Donatoni, Stefano Scodanibbio, Michel Godard, David Moss, Joel Rubin, Dario Calderone, Naomi Sato, Quartetto Prometeo, Francesco Dillon, Simone Spinaci, Daniele Roccato, Kálmán Balogh.
He has been performing at Berlin Philharmonic, Het Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Teatro alla Scala Milan, Cornell University, RadioFrance, Muziekgebouw Amsterdam, Tonhalle Zurich, Gaudeamus, Bimhuis, Holland Festival Amsterdam.
He has given masterclasses at Paris Conservatory, Royal Academy of Music of London, Sibelius University Helsinki, Danish Royal Academy of Music Copenhagen, Chopin University Warsaw, Amsterdam Conservatory, Hochschule für Musik Würzburg, Köln and Detmold, Folkwang University Essen.
He’s based in Amsterdam and he is the accordion professor at G.B.Pergolesi Conservatory in Fermo (Italy).
Jacomucci’s virtuosity is incredible and, sometimes, it’s difficult to believe that there are no more person playing other voices which seem to be impossible to do with two hands on this instrument. We have to point out the excellent use of dynamics of the bellows and the great musicality of this musician. Ritmo Classic Music Magazine
